Survey Questions:

Here are the questions asked of Level 4 students [11 and 12 year olds] in Victoria and their teachers.
These students will be surveyed using SurveyMonkey. If you want to be part of the survey, please use the form at the front of this website.
STUDENTS: 

 Scale of 1 – 5
  • How important is it that your learning style is catered for when learning new things?
  • How well do you think your teacher understands your preferred learning style?
  • How well does your teacher cater for your preferred learning style?
  • How can teachers use flexible learning spaces to cater for different learning styles?
  • How well do you think your teacher uses the different learning spaces in the Boorai Building?
  • How excited are you about learning in the learning spaces in the Boorai Building?
  • How well do you think furniture is used in the learning spaces?
Questionnaire:
  • Describe the best learning environment for you as a learner.
  • How can teachers use flexible learning spaces to cater for your learning styles?
  • How would you describe what your learning style is?
  • What would you like to change about how you learn now?
    • What changes would you like to make to this classroom/school?
    • What do you like best about the flexible learning spaces?
    • What do you like least about the flexible learning spaces?
    • What is the most important way to use the learning spaces in the new building?
    • What is the least important way to use the learning spaces in the new building?
    • What responsibilities do you think are important when using flexible learning spaces?
TEACHERS:

o   What help do you need to use flexible learning spaces to cater for different learning styles?

o   How do teachers’ working styles influence lesson design?

o   How does your team work together to decide how to use flexible learning spaces?

o   How do you know what is the best learning environment for each student?

o   What are the learning styles of your students?

o   Tell me how your students usually work?

o   What do you think is the relationship between learning styles and learning outcomes/achievement?

o   Do you think a mismatch between learning styles and learning environments matters? Why/Why not?

o   What do you think is the relationship between student perception of classroom environment and achievement?

o   How important is matching teacher learning styles and student learning styles?

o   What type of teaching and learning experiences are you going to focus on in your flexible learning spaces?

o   What protocols do you think are needed for your team to use flexible learning spaces effectively?

o   Take you class list. Which students do you think are the wanderers? Which students might like to work in small group situations? Which students like support most of the time? Which students prefer to work independently? Which students don’t like to get distracted? Which students need one on one at some time during an activity? Which students are the chatters? Which students are ICT savvy? How has this initial reflection of your students given you insight for instructional design, taking into account learning spaces?
